Carien Moossdorff
PhD Candidate
Carien Moossdorff is a cultural sociologist and PhD candidate at Anticiplay. She observes very serious societal processes going on in game, play, and leisure — as well as very light-hearted, playful, and joyful mechanics in earnest institutions.
For her PhD, Carien writes about emotional engagement with transformation in games - from Wolfenstein: The New Colossus to The Sims. Carien will move on from the games themselves to the cultures and social dynamics around games — and to perspectives on transformation in the game industry.
